Why is registration in January for a program that takes place in the Spring?

The league requires that each program submit rosters, amount of teams in each grade and seeding requests (which division each team wishes to play in) by early February.

When are games and practices?

League games are on Sundays.  The final schedule will not be distributed by the league until mid-March.  Once the final schedule is distributed, it will be uploaded into SportsEngine for each team and communicated as such.

Practice days and times are dependent on field and coach availability.  Each team will practice 1-2 days a week for an hour to an hour and a half.

What equipment do I need?

Helmet (nocsae approved), mouthpiece, shoulder pads (nocsae approved), arm pads, gloves, cleats, stick.  Please note, PYA has an extensive inventory of used equipment.  If you would like to look at what we have in the shed, or want to donate anything, please contact Brandon at brandon@pyasports.org

Are scholarships available?

Yes, please reach out to Brandon to discuss our scholarship program at brandon@pyasports.org

My child is new to lacrosse, is this program a good fit for them?

In grades 1 through 3, the league, and our program is developmental in nature, but also competitive.  Given the developmental nature, we strongly encourage everyone to register and participate.  If your child is averse to equipment, or hesitant to play, we will be offering a non-equipment based developmental program for Pre-K to 2nd Grade this spring as well.

In grades 4 through 6 our teams become more competitive.  Given the number of registrations, some grades can have two teams, with one being more developmental.  If your child is interested in playing Brandon can connect you with the appropriate coach to discuss further.

My child plays intramural and Legends baseball, do either of those conflict?

PYA makes every effort possible to make sure there are little to no conflicts and that the children can play both sports.

We hope this helps answer some of the questions you may have about the program.  Registration closes on 1/31, so if your child intends to play, please register by then.  Once registrations close, about the second week of February team rosters will be uploaded into SportsEngine, and coaches will reach out about a team zoom meeting to go over the season.

We look forward to having another incredible season!
